World of Warcraft Druid Class Guide

Druids are an amazing Hybrid Class that perform up to FOUR role in a group, depending on your gear and talent setup.

Healing (Restoration), Tanking (Feral), Melee DPS (Feral), Caster DPS (Balance).

And all 3 Tree are suitable for PVP. Restorations Druids are currently the most popular Arena spec and Feral are the least popular in arena due to many weaknesses as melee but excellent for Battleground PVP.

 

Healing (Restoration) Strength

Instant HOTs (Healing Over Time) - Druid biggest advantage is their healing over time as with this they can heal while moving, but since it requires time for the healing to come into effect, a restoration druid must learn to start healing in advance before too much damage is done.

Polymorph and Snare Removal - Any spec Druid can shape shift to bear , cat or cheetah (travel form) while this cost mana to shape shift it will also remove any movement slowing abilities like hamstring and you can do this for unlimited number of times.

Crowd Control with Cyclone and Root - Cyclone is an extremely powerful ability while it has a short duration of 6 seconds, it will also prevent that cyclone character from receiving any healing. So you can cyclone someone when their hit points are low and disable their healer then finish them off.
Root is also extremely powerful against melee classes who need to be in close range at all times to deal damage.

Fast Travel Form - Travel form allows you to run 40% faster than any other class. This is a druid trademark abilities as this allow a druid to escape from harm.

Curse & Poison Dispels - Druid are one of 2 class that can remove Curse, this is important vs warlock teams that can cast Curse of Tongues which slow casting by 60%. Abolish Poison is also extremely helpful to counter poisons attacks from Hunters and Rogues.

Stealth - Druid and Rogues are the only classes that can stealth, this is extremely useful at the beginning of a fight giving druid an advantage against other healers.

Weakness

Low Armor - A Druid that gets caught out of Bear Form can be easily killed by high psychical damage from melee or range from hunters, a druid must cast a HOT then shape shift to bear form to keep themselves alive

Healing Can Be Dispelled - A Priest or Shaman can dispel all of Druid's HOT healing, to counter these dispels a Druid can cast Lifebloom which will heal for about 1500 hp per dispel.

Melee DPS (Feral)

High Melee Damage - Feral druid damage scale extremely well with gear and can rip through any class in cat form, unfortunately cat form will leave a druid very vulnerable to melee.

Polymorph and Snare Removal

Fast Feral & Travel Form - Travel form allows you to run 40% faster than any other class. This is a druid trademark abilities as this allow a druid to escape from harm. In addition Druid Cat Form and Bear Form can travel faster than other spec.

Stealth - Druid and Rogues are the only classes that can stealth, this is extremely useful at the beginning of a fight giving druid an advantage against other healers.

Weakness

No Movement Slowing Abilities - This is a major weakness for PVP since as a melee damage class you need to stay close to your enemy, and it is extremely difficult to stay in range to kill your target.

No Mortal Strike -Healing Debuff - Most melee classes such as Warrior and Rogues can reduce your opponent healing by up to 50%, but this is unfortunately not available to Druids.

Mana Dependencies - Another major weakness for Feral Druids since if you run out of mana you can no longer shape shift and staying in 1 form will limit your abilities a lot.

Crowd Control Not As Effective - Casting cyclone and root can proof to costly on mana as feral, to be any use.

Caster DPS (Balance)

High Burst Spell Damage and DOT - Balance Druid damage are extremely high if combine with a lot. of Spell Critical stats. Left alone a balance Druid can kill an opponent extremely quick.

Self Healing - A balance Druid can still heal themselves relatively well because their spell damage gear will also benefit their healing

High Armor Moonkin Form - Moonkin form will give you the same amount of armor as Bear Form which can mitigate over 60% of psychical damage.

Crowd Control with Cyclone and Root - Using Cyclone and Root is even better as a balance Druid because you can cast them while staying in Moonkin form. So you can effectively tank any melee and cast cyclone or root to escape.

No Spell Interrupt - A Druid don't have a proper form of Spell Interrupt to stop a healer from casting healing spell all day, while a Mage or Warlock can Silence healers to allow them to finish the kill.
